Korea Youth National Team is through!
It is the last day of the group stage.
One of the teams that has advanced to the A playoff is Korea Youth National Team from South Korea.
– We are happy to have reached the A playoff in Partille Cup, says the top scorer Kim Joungou.
Group 6 in the class Boys 16 was very tight. Korea Youth National Team started by winning a a tough game against Eskilstuna Guif with 16-15. Then they lost against the danish team IF Stjernen and won against the norwegian team Fjellhammer IL. After that they had a tough defeat against swedish group winners HK Ankaret. They had to win over the spanish group jumbo Club Handball Cambrils to get to the A playoff and the south koreans did it without any problems. The Korea Youth National Team won with 16 goals to 5 and can now start to get ready for the A playoff, that kicks off tomorrow.
– We were not very good in the first half but then we got better and better, says Kim Joungou.
He scored many, many goals in the group stage, where he was the team’s best goal scorer. Kim Joungou believes that Korea Youth National Team, which is strong in the defense, has the potential to go a long way in the tournament.
– We want to win! We play very tough and I hope that we can reach the semifinal at least. It would have been cool to play in the final. We like to be here and play, says the 16-year-old.
He has a big dream with his handball.
– I want to play for the national team in South Korea, he says.
