Three teams from Africa are part of the Partille Cup this year. Two of these belong to Mount Kenya from Kenya, which are represented by a team in the G13 class and one in the B13 class.
The Mount Kenya team arrived in Gothenburg on Monday and on Thursday both the boys team and the girls team played their final match of this year’s edition of Partille Cup. The girls lost against Lugi HF and the boys did the same against Täby HBK in their first match in the B-play-off.
Jessica Karura is part of the team that has been in Gothenburg this week and it’ll be a week that she’ll remember for years to come.
“I’ve played handball for quite a few years and I like it very much”.
“It’s nice to be here in Sweden. I love to play together with different people, it brings peace and you make many friends here”.
The opportunity to meet teams from different countries is something Jessica appreciates with Partille Cup.
“I’ve played against countries like the Faroe Islands, Norway and Sweden. The most fun game was definitely the first one where I scored one of the goals!”
It hasn’t only been focus on the matches during the team’s stay in Gothenburg, there has also been time for plenty of other activities. Among other things Jessica has walked around the different fields and made new friends.
“In addition to playing the matches we have been eating ice cream and talking to the people here in Sweden. Everyone has been very friendly”.
