For the first time, para handball is part of the Partille Cup. On Wednesday morning, the tournament started at Prioritet Serneke Arena.
Para handball at Partille Cup is divided into two classes, wheelchair handball and walking handball.
“The para handball has entered the Swedish Handball Federation and we would like to involve it in different tournaments, where Partille Cup is one of them. Now the first year, it will be a bit limited regarding the number of teams but it will eventually grow bigger into the organization”, says project leader Peter Svensson.
This year a total of five teams, all from Sweden, will participate and the plan is to expand the number of teams and nations for future editions of the Partille Cup.
“We want to grow and involve more teams in the future. Wheelchair handball is big in Portugal and the Netherlands to name two countries, so we’ll have a look at that for instance”, says Svensson.
The para handball tournaments are played at Prioritet Serneke Arena on the 4th and 5th of July and during the opening match there was a great feeling in the arena.
”There are already a lot of people in the arena and there is a lot of excitement among the participants!”
