Partille World Cup receives honorary award from the Zagreb Handball Federation
Partille World Cup and IK Sävehof have been recognised by the Zagreb Handball Federation. The award is given for the tournament’s long-standing importance in the development of Croatian youth teams.
This year marks 50 years since the first Croatian youth team took part in the tournament. The continued participation has been supported by the Zagreb region, which has helped teams from both Zagreb and the rest of Croatia to attend.
– Croatian teams have always been a special part of the Partille World Cup family. There is a strong tradition of taking part in the tournament, and we have always been happy to welcome Croatian teams, says Fredrik Andersson, Secretary General of Partille World Cup.
In total, around 15,000 participants have travelled from Zagreb to the world’s largest handball tournament over the years.
– They have come to play handball and, through that, met new friends, experienced new cultures and become part of something bigger than the game itself. That is what makes Partille World Cup so unique. It is about experiences for life and friendships across borders through sport, says Fredrik Andersson.
The anniversary marks not only a historic partnership, but also a shared future. Every summer, new players arrive in Gothenburg, new connections are made, and new memories are created.
– For us Croatians, Partille World Cup has always been the natural destination when travelling to play handball in Europe. It is not only the largest handball tournament in the world – it is also the best. It is a meeting place where our players not only face top-level teams, but also meet people who share the same passion, says Kazimir Iljas, Partille World Cup ambassador for the Croatian market.
