The undefeated team wins the Danish derby
Skanderborg HB and Ikast Håndbold faced each other in the G18 final at Heden on Saturday. After a strong team effort, Skanderborg came out as winners in the Danish derby. – It feels amazing, says MVP Sif Emma Gisselmann Egekvist.

The G18 final at Heden was an all-Danish derby between unbeaten Skanderborg HB and the more battle-tested Ikast Håndbold. Skanderborg won the match 13–7.

The first half started calmly, with Skanderborg leading 4–2 at the break. In the second half, the teams kept scoring back and forth, but Skanderborg’s discipline made the difference. Their patience in attack and strong defence kept Ikast from closing the gap. When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard showed 13–7 to Skanderborg.
– I think everyone really wanted to win, and we trust each other a lot, says Gisselmann Egekvist.
Skanderborg HB finished the tournament undefeated – a sign of the team’s depth and stability from the first group game to the final.
– We help each other, and we’ve become really close over the past year, says Gisselmann Egekvist about the team’s journey to gold.
