First steps into the world of handball

It is the first time the boys from Bangladesh leave their home country, and they step straight onto the world’s biggest handball court. – The games are fun, but the teams are very good, says Sabit Ahmed Sadat.

It is the first time the boys from Bangladesh visit Gothenburg and Partille World Cup. For many of them, it is also the first time they leave their home country.
The team starts playing handball in Year 4 and has only trained for just over a year. On the court, they meet teams with much more experience. The pace is high and the opponents are tough.

– It is cool to be here. The games are fun, but the other teams are very good. We start playing handball in Year 4, so we are still learning, says Sabit Ahmed Sadat.

Despite the result, no one hangs their head. On the contrary, the boys are already talking about the future. They want to come back better and more prepared.

– One day we want to come back and be good enough to beat the other teams, he says.

After the boys line up for a team photo with their opponents Lugi, who have just won the match, they explain that the best part of Partille World Cup doesn’t only happen on the court. The opening evening stands out – especially the show and the fireworks.

– The fireworks were cool, says Shahriar Islam Sadie. As his teammates nods.
