Gold to the Faroe Islands after last-minute goal

After a nail-biter in the last minute, the Faroe Islands' H71 1 could declare themselves the winners of the G11 final against Danish TIK Håndbold.

For a long time, it looked like we were going to witness something as unusual as a goalless handball match, but after a goal from the Faroe Islands' H71 1 in the last minute, they could declare themselves the winners against Danish TIK Håndbold. The match's MVP, Eva Bjarnadóttir, shares her feelings after the game.
– It feels great! It was a tough match against a good team, so it feels really good to win," says Eva Bjarnadóttir.

There were two previously unbeaten teams that took to the Fristad arena to compete for the gold. After strong defensive play and outstanding performances from both goalkeepers, it took a full 29 minutes before the first and decisive goal from H 71 came. Bjarnadóttir is pleased with the result, but it is not just the victory that she will remember when she looks back on the Partille World Cup.
– The best part about being here has been hanging out and developing together with the team, she says.

Now the team will go home to the Faroe Islands, but before that, they will celebrate the victory in their favourite way.
– I don't know exactly how we will celebrate, but I know that we will have cake or ice cream," says Bjarnadóttir.
