Mount Kenya HC are already planning their tournament return

The Kenyan side has visited the tournament since 2003 and they're planning to continue the tradition.

Mount Kenya HC were excited to return to Partille Cup. Coach Helen Home and her G14 team, who were here for the first time, really liked it and were reluctant to leave.
– I would come back again this year already, says Helen Home.

Mount Kenya HC is a club based outside of Nairobi, and they’re the only team representing Kenya at the tournament. They are no strangers to the tournament, and this time they brought a B14 and and a G14 team.
– We’ve done this every year since 2003. This is the first time that we’re back since 2019, says Helen.

Handball in Nairobi is mainly played between different schools who arrange interschool competitions with neighbouring schools. They have programs at the schools that are dedicated to sports, where the kids belong to certain sporting clubs. The team was excited about being at Partille Cup and getting to play against different teams.
– It’s the exposure, it’s a learning experience for us and the interaction has been amazing, says Helen.

It was the first time at Partille Cup for this particular group of girls, and they took the chance to explore Gothenburg. They were happy at the school they stayed at, and they’ve made friends with the other teams who also stayed there. All of the girls had brought bracelets with the Kenyan flag on as a good luck charm. When asked if they're planning to come back next year, the answer was a resounding yes.
– If I had the chance to, I would come back again this year already, says Helen.
