Partille Cup opened in front of over 11 000 spectators

Much joy when Partille Cup was officially opened in front of a large crowd.

The world's largest youth handball tournament was officially opened in front of over 11 000 happy children, young people and leaders in Scandinavium this evening.
– It was a very nice opening ceremony with a lot of joy, says Fredrik Andersson, general secretary for Partille Cup.

Last year's opening ceremony was witnessed by 10 205 young people in Scandinavium and was the first since 2019. This year there were more spectators on site. Specifically, 11 538 people. And the atmosphere was just as electric. It was noticeable that the participants were excited. First, the teams had to play their first matches. And then they got to top it off by cheering and experiencing a wonderful opening show on Tuesday evening. It was noticeable that the young people had longed to experience the inauguration.

The opening highlighted the community and joy that pervades Partille Cup. The audience was treated to wonderful numbers of various kinds. Among other things, ten-year-old Elina Bendej made an acclaimed performance and there was a series of dance numbers. Elina sang Laleh's hit song Goliat and did it impressively. The Partille Cup oath was read out and all 34 countries were introduced one by one as usual. Among other things, we got to see tumbling handball players from the Faroe Islands. It was a lot of screaming when Sweden was presented, but all countries received great cheers. In addition, the Swedish national anthem was played on an electric guitar.

Partille Cup 2023 is hereby officially opened! Partille Cup's general secretary Fredrik Andersson is very pleased with the outcome of this year's opening ceremony.
– I'm very satisfied with the opening. It was very nice. There was a lot of joy on stage, on the floor and in the stands. Many fine messages were highlighted. It was simply an evening of joy. This was the starting point for this year's tournament. Now we have a lot to look forward to for the rest of the week, says Fredrik Andersson.
