The referee duo who met at Partille World Cup

German Carolin Rose and Swede Majken Hansson during the tournament.

Despite coming from two different places, Majken Hansson from Sweden and Caroline Rose from Germany hit it off well and officiated matches together during Partille World Cup 2024.

During Partille World Cup 2024, Majken Hansson from Sweden and Carolin Rose from Germany officiated matches together. Their paths to the tournament were entirely different.
- I heard about the opportunity from my fellow referees. Additionally, I know the tournament well as I have participated as a player several times, says Majken Hansson.
- I was told by a referee who usually officiates my matches in Germany that this would be a great opportunity and a fun trip, says Carolin Rose.

The girls' experience levels varied. While Majken Hansson regularly officiates league matches, this was Carolin Rose’s very first time refereeing handball games.
- It's exciting to get the chance. A lot is new, but it's especially fun, says the German.

Both referees were very pleased with the entire arrangement and enjoyed their time at Partille World Cup.
- It's well-organised, and the whole setup is very clear. It's fun to get the chance to come here and see people from so many different countries and cultures playing handball, says Caroline Rose.

The "Celebrate" concept aims to make it clear how everyone involved in the event can contribute to a more sustainable world. One of the important principles in "Celebrate the Game" is "the referees are only human."
- It's important for us that people show respect to us even though we make mistakes, because everyone makes mistakes sometimes, says Majken Hansson.

Carolin Rose agrees and adds:
- Since we have to make quick decisions, it's sometimes hard to know what is right and wrong, and people need to understand that, she says.
