The Starting Signal Has Been Given for the European Open Championship

The European Open Championship is officially started in Gothenburg, bringing together eleven top youth national teams for a week of high-level handball. Poland kicked off the tournament with a strong win over Lithuania in the opening match.

On Monday, the European Open Championship kicked off — the national team tournament held alongside the Partille World Cup. This year, eleven European youth national teams are competing for the title, with high ambitions.

The tournament’s first match took place at 09:15 in an exciting encounter between Poland and Lithuania in the men’s U19 category. It was an intense and well-played opener, with Poland securing the win 23–18.

“It was a good day for us. We played strong defense, had great teamwork, and showed excellent team spirit,” said Jacob Kuba, a player on the Polish team.

The victory gives Poland a strong start to the tournament, and the team looks ahead to the rest of the week with great hopes.

“Our expectations are high. We know there will be tough matches, but we are ready,” Kuba continued.

The European Open Championship runs throughout the Partille World Cup week and concludes on Friday, July 4. The tournament showcases world-class handball as the stars of tomorrow take to the court. Stay tuned for more results, highlights, and interviews throughout the week!
