The world champion coach is coaching at Partille Cup
The Danish head coach is here!
The three times world champion, as head coach, Nikolaj Jacobsen is here in Gothenburg to coach the Danish side GOG.
- Partille Cup is a great event, says Jacobsen, head coach of the Danish national team.
Nikolaj Jacobsen has dominated the world handball scene over the last few years. As head coach for the Danish national team, he has won three consecutive World Cups. He also won the prize as the best handball coach in the world in 2021.
Now he is in Gothenburg to coach his son's team, GOG B15, to glory.
- I have been here one time before, in 2014, when I was here with my daughter. Since then I have promised my son that we should go here one day as well, and this year is the year, he says.
Have you played Partille Cup yourself?
- No, not in this way. I came here to Gothenburg a long time ago to play with the Danish B18 national team, and then we played some games here. But I have never participated in the tournament itself.
As a coach for his son's team, Jacobsen has enjoyed the tournament so far.
- I have liked the tournament so far. You only need to look at the guys in the team. Even though the weather has not been the best, they still enjoy the whole event as they come across many people from different parts of the tournament. The most important thing for me is that they enjoy themselves, Jacobsen says.
GOG's next game is against IFK Ystad at Heden 11 - Hummel, at 15:25. The match is the 1/64 round in the A-playoffs.
