Aalborg KFUM triumphed in a dramatic G14 final
At Fristad Arena, IK Sävehof faced Denmark's Aalborg KFUM in a dramatic G14 final. Sävehof made the stronger start, but the Danish side fought their way back into the match to claim the gold medal.
Sävehof made a superb start to the match and raced into a 5–1 lead after the opening four minutes. Aalborg KFUM gradually found their rhythm, however, and by halftime the score was level at 7–7.
Aalborg KFUM were the more clinical side in the second half and eventually secured a 16–15 victory. In the dying moments, Sävehof had a chance to force extra time with a free throw, but their effort went wide. The G14 title therefore went to Denmark's Aalborg KFUM.
Ida Brøndum Laustsen of Aalborg KFUM was named the final's MVP. After the match, she was delighted with her team's achievement.
– I am very happy and proud of all of my teammates. I didn’t believe we would come this far, but I am very proud we did, and I am very happy to be with the girls here.
The team will now celebrate the victory by spending time together before travelling home.
– We just want to be together and be happy, says Brøndum Laustsen after the match.
As winners of the Partille World Cup, Aalborg KFUM also receive free entry to the Partille World Cup in Cairo, taking place from 31 March to 3 April 2027.
