All time high interest for Partille World Cup
A record number of registrations came in during the first day. Teams from three nations have signed up teams already. It's teams from Sweden, Norway and Poland.
Freidig from Norway and Täby Handboll from Sweden were very quick regarding signing up for the tournament.
– Week 27 is holy to us, says Tomas Linusfloyd Johansson from Täby Handboll.
The Norwegian team Freidig's G15 team was the first foreign team to register for Partille World Cup this year.
– We see the participation in Partille World Cup as a fantastic end to the season and hope to meet completely different teams than we are used to. It will be an experience for the girls and the coaches to go to Gothenburg. We look forward to it, says the leader Tove Carstensen.
What experiences have you had from the Partille World Cup in the past?
– There are several Freidig teams that have traveled there and spread positive words. We wanted to be part of a big tournament, so that's why we will participate in Partille World Cup, says Tove Carstensen.
Täby Handboll's G15 team was the first Swedish team to register this year.
– I was nervous, I'm always afraid that there will be a mess with wifi, alarms, scattered thoughts and so on. But I managed to sign us up. It's fun to be first, but if you are ready directly, you're probably in the top ten anyway, says Tomas Linusfloyd Johansson, coach for Täby Handboll.
They have been very successful in the tournament in recent years.
– Our goal is to win for the fourth year in a row with the girls. However, it will be incredibly difficult. Otherwise, we want to have as much fun as in the previous years. Week 27 is holy to us – no life without Partille World Cup, he says.
How has it been to win three years in a row and what does the tournament mean to you?
– Yes, it can hardly be taken in. This team is like a fairy tale. It's actually completely unreal, but the girls are awesome both as handball players and people. It's a uniquely fine group that gets far too little attention in my opinion, a documentary would have been something. The Partille World Cup is very important to us, it's as big as it gets!
What do you think is the best thing about Partille World Cup?
– Meeting lots of talented and good teams and the atmosphere/pulse at, for example, Heden. Gothenburg breathes handball that week, there is a lot of things that we don't want to miss for the world, says Tomas Linusfloyd Johansson.
