New competition regulations for Partille World Cup 2025
Partille World Cup is introducing new competition regulations, starting from this summer’s tournament. These changes aim to create more balanced matches, a more rewarding experience, and greater opportunities for more teams to succeed in the tournament.

The new competition regulations are designed with the best interests of the participants in mind. By ensuring fair conditions and increasing opportunities for more teams to succeed, we aim to strengthen the tournament’s status as a global meeting place for youth handball. The tournament welcomes teams ranging from grassroots levels to some of the world’s best club teams. Partille World Cup remains a tournament for everyone, where community and handball takes center stage. Our ambition is to enhance the experience for participants and contribute to more joy among everyone involved.
The new regulations introduce two changes: implementation of elite groups for the older age categories (16–18 years) and a new C-playoff for younger categories (10–15 years). The 21-year-old category remains unchanged.
Elite Groups: 16–18 years old
Group and Playoff Structure: The elite groups are part of the same competition class and playoffs as the other teams, but 5 out of 6 teams from the elite groups will advance to the A-playoffs compared to 3 out of 6 in regular groups.
• Teams placing 1st–3rd in the group stage will be ranked as group winners in the A-playoffs.
• Teams placing 4th will be ranked as 2nd in the group.
• Teams placing 5th will be ranked as 3rd in the group.
• Teams placing 6th will advance to the B-playoffs and be ranked as 4th in the group.
This change is expected to contribute to a more dynamic tournament structure, ensuring teams play more even matches. Both top-level matches and close group-stage encounters will create an exciting overall experience for players, coaches, and spectators.
Application and Verification for Elite Groups:
Teams participating in the following categories: Girls 16, Boys 16, Girls 18, and Boys 18, can apply for a spot in the elite group. Registration follows the usual process, but applications must be submitted via email to [email protected] by April 1st, including a motivation why your team should be chosen. Our competition committee will verify that the team meets the required level before confirming participation, which will be announced on April 15.
New C-Playoff for 10–15 years old
To further ensure balanced and exciting matches, a C-playoff will be introduced for the 10–15-year-old categories.
Playoff Structure:
• Teams placing 1st and 2nd in the group stage advance to the A-playoffs.
• Teams placing 3rd and 4th advance to the B-playoffs.
• All remaining teams move to the C-playoffs.
This change means that more teams will have the opportunity to advance in the playoffs. The structure creates a more even playing field and allows all teams to compete at the level that reflects their performance. It also adds importance to more matches, which we hope will increase engagement and create positive experiences for more players.
