Partille World Cup
Chilean team participate thanks to Partille World Cup Foundation
Every year, several teams take part in the tournament with support from the Partille World Cup Foundation. These are teams that otherwise would not have had the opportunity to participate. One of them is Club Italiano de BM from Chile.
Club Italiano de BM is the only team from Chile competing in this year’s Partille World Cup. For player Gustavo Lira, it is his first time taking part in the tournament.
– I think this has been a great experience, he says.
Club Italiano de BM’s B16 team impressed during the group stage and advanced to the A Playoffs. The team finished third in its group with eight points from six matches and a goal difference of +20, despite facing strong opposition.
– The game here is much faster, and the players are bigger, says Gustavo Lira.
The tournament schedule also gives the team the opportunity to play many matches in a short period of time, something the players appreciate.
– We play as many matches this week as we do in an entire year in Chile.
Club Italiano de BM’s tournament came to an end in the Round of 64 on Friday morning, following a 13–10 defeat to IF Stjernen.

The conditions for participating in sports are unequal around the world. Where you are born should not prevent you from having life-changing experiences and developing through sports.
Partille World Cup Foundation is a fund where we allocate approximately SEK 2.5 million each year, which is then given to teams from underprivileged countries, allowing them the opportunity to participate on equal terms with other teams.
Partille World Cup is a meeting place for children and youth from around the world, regardless of social or cultural background, where handball is our common denominator.
