Sävehof stayed together and won the gold
IK Sävehof 1 won a close G13 match against ZSA 1920 Włocławek in a tight contest where strong goalkeeping and solid defence made the difference.
It is a close start to the G13 final, with neither team able to create a clear advantage until IK Sävehof’s goalkeeper makes a couple of brilliant saves, including an excellent penalty save that gives both the team and the supporters plenty of energy.
– It’s really fun to play with so many people watching, says match MVP Isabella Weber.
After the save, Sävehof take control of the game and manage to build a lead of a few goals before half-time.
It is clear that the Polish girls have talked things through during the break, as they come out with much more energy in the second half. They fight their way back and almost catch IK Sävehof.
With ten minutes remaining, Sävehof’s goalkeeper makes two more excellent foot saves, and the celebrations on the Sävehof bench are huge as the team holds on during a crucial stage of the match.
– The whole team played really well throughout the tournament and today as well, says MVP Isabella.
Sävehof’s central defenders close down the Polish attack and do not allow many clear chances.
In the end, it is a tight match with the Polish side coming close to a comeback, and only two goals separate the teams at the final whistle. IK Sävehof 1 hold on to secure the victory after a strong team performance. The final score was 20–18 to IK Sävehof.
