Tight Gothenburg derby in the G21 final
Kungälvs HK pulled away and won the G21 final against Sävehof IK in an intense Gothenburg derby at Partille World Cup.
It is a Gothenburg derby that immediately lives up to expectations as Kungälvs HK and Sävehof IK meet in the G21 final. After a tight start where the teams go goal for goal up to 5–5, the game remains swinging and intense.
– We were not really satisfied with the first half, so we just said that we needed to do better and show what we are capable of, says match MVP Märta Nyström.
It is small margins separating the teams, and neither side manages to create a clear advantage during the first half. At half-time, only one goal separates the two teams.
The tempo remains high after the break, but it is Kungälvs HK who step up in the second half. Kungälv raise the intensity, find better combinations in attack, and quickly take control of the match.
– We stepped up in the second half, like we have done throughout the whole tournament, and just went for it, as it should be, says Märta Nyström.
With a couple of important goals, Kungälvs HK build a lead and force IK Sävehof to chase the game. After that, there is no doubt about it. Kungälvs HK control the match, shut down Sävehof, and show their quality when it matters most.
The match ends 24–18 to Kungälvs HK.
