Skanderborg handled the pressure as favorites – moves on to the round of 16

On Friday afternoon, tournament favorites Skanderborg HB faced HK Aranäs at Fristad Arena in the opening match of the G16 A playoffs. The Danish side lived up to expectations, handling the pressure as favorites to advance to the Round of 16.

Skanderborg won their elite group in dominant fashion, taking victory in all six group-stage matches. Their opponents, Aranäs, finished second in Group 11 with four wins and one loss.

Skanderborg took an early lead through two goals from Dagmar Have Rasmussen. Aranäs kept pace, and after 10 minutes the score stood at 6–4. From there, Skanderborg produced high-quality handball, scoring five unanswered goals to go into halftime leading 11–4.

The dominance continued in the second half, and they ultimately secured a 24–9 victory. Skanderborg HB thereby advanced to the Round of 16 where they face Norwegian side Lörenskog HK/Rælingen.

Skanderborg captain Dagmar Have Rasmussen scored eight goals in total.

– I’m very happy because of the match, and I think we played well together as a team, she said.

The team won the Partille World Cup last year, and Have Rasmussen hopes they can go just as far this time as well.

– I think we have very good chances of going far in the tournament. My dream is to win it.
