New Heden Inaugurated During Partille World Cup
The City of Gothenburg inaugurated the new Heden on the first day of the Partille World Cup. With the renovated Heden now complete, the Partille World Cup is the first event to take place on the upgraded grounds.
– Heden is a special place in Gothenburg. Sports should not be sidelined; it should have a special place in our city. We demonstrate this with this project. A strong community life is an investment in public health, togetherness, and equality, said Daniel Bernmar (V), municipal councilor and first deputy chairman of the municipal board, before he declared the new Heden inaugurated.
He did so together with Cengiz Sayin, who lost his wallet at Heden 46 years ago. But it was found in a locker room when the renovation began.
Fredrik Andersson, Secretary General of Partille World Cup, appreciates that Gothenburg chose Partille World Cup for the inauguration.
– When the city asked if they could hold the inauguration during Partille World Cup, we obviously said yes. The tournaments in the summer are often seen as synonymous with Heden, and it shows how important collaboration is in Gothenburg. Gothenburg City has really had a good dialogue with us who utilize the place.
