Partille Cup 2021 is being canceled

This summer’s edition of the Partille Cup is canceled and will not take place as planned 5 – 10 July. This was officially decided by the Partille Cup management on Monday 19 April.

Partille Cup has made an assessment of the situation due to the spread of Covid-19 and the following restrictions in society. With the information we receive about the situation, we do not see that the situation is going to have changed sufficiently in early July.

Despite the current pandemic, there have been hope of being able to complete a Partille Cup this year – although in a smaller format than usual. It has been both our and our participants’ desire to carry out the tournament, while health and safety has always been our highest priority.

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that the Partille Cup cannot take place this year. Even though it was probebly expected, anything else would have been unrealistic given the current conditions. But we have had hope for a long time and it feels empty and sad to have to make the decision to cancel, says - Fredrik Andersson, General Secretary of the Partille Cup

Partille Cup is the world’s largest handball tournament for young people. In 2019 we had over 1,400 teams with over 24,000 participants from 50 countries. That is why the Partille Cup is a such an appreciated meeting place for young people from all over the world. The need for this kind of meetings and experiences is important for young people, and we understand the disappointment that many feel now when the event is canceled. Partille Cup is coming back, and we are really looking forward to being able to invite the world to Gothenburg again.

Today we send out information to all registered teams with details regarding the fees. Registered teams can choose whether they want to transfer the fee to next year’s tournament or if they want the fees refunded.
