St Brendans College enjoyed their stint at Partille World Cup
Despite tough matches the Irish team had a brilliant week in Gothenburg.
Despite the many tough matches and several defeats, Ryan Twomey from the Irish team was pleased with the week and the Partille World Cup experience.
– It has been an incredible week. Especially for us from Ireland to get the chance to do something like this, it doesn't happen very often, says Ryan Twomey.
The heavy defeats in the tournament did not change Ryan's opinion of the event.
– It doesn't change much at all. You enjoy every day and it's fun to be in another country with your friends, he says.
St Brendans College broke new ground by being the first Irish participants in the tournament in twelve years.
–It's cool that in the future I will be able to tell all my friends and family that I represented Ireland in the world's largest handball tournament. It feels fantastic, says Jack Twomey.
Next year, Jack Twomey wants to return to Gothenburg to experience the tournament once again and to truly compete this time.
– I would love to return here. If we come back next year, our goal is to win a match, and I think we can do that, he says.
Next year, Ireland aims to have more participating teams in the Partille World Cup. Jack's advice for the participating teams is clear:
– Make sure to have a lot of fun. It's not often you get the chance to come to Sweden and participate in a tournament like this, he says.
