Team Brutus wants to help handball grow in South America

Team Brutus is the only club from Argentina this year. They love to represent their country in Partille Cup and they do it well.

The B18 team got a draw against Randers HH from Denmark in their first game at Härlanda Park today.
–  It’s a project with the goal to develop handball in South America, says the coach Gaston Mourino, who is a professional handball player.

The game between Team Brutus and Randers HH was a nail biter. Team Brutus got a penalty in the final seconds and scored to make it 13-13.
– We’re very happy with one point. It was our first game and we played very good. It was very funny to play here. It was a good game. This tournament is important for the guys. The point was good for the team, says Gaston Mourino.
He’s a coach for the team. He has good help from his girlfriend Gabriela Bitolo, but right now she represents the Brazilian national team.

– Team Brutus is a new club. We started only six months ago. It’s a project with the goal to develop handball in South America. It’s very interesting. Partille Cup is a new experience for the boys. To play teams from another countries is very different and interesting for them. Me and Gabriela are very happy for all these moments for Team Brutus.
Gaston thinks that the players will learn a lot from this experience.
– This is an opportunity for them to see the best youth handball in the world. And it’s a very beautiful city. It’s so interesting to play here. We will come back to Partille Cup next year.

Gaston himself has played for Argentina in both the Olympic Games in Tokyo and at World Championship. He is back from injury and will play for CSM Constanta in Romania next season.
– I’m so happy with my decision, he says.
