Exciting week ahead for Mt Kenya in Gothenburg

Mt Kenya is here to play handball, eat good food, and explore Gothenburg.

Countries from all over the world are participating in the Partille World Cup 2024. In the Boys 13 category alone, 16 nations and 73 teams are competing for the trophy. Among them, the Kenyan team Mt Kenya is eager to take part with their enthusiastic boys.

On Tuesday morning, the first matches of the Partille World Cup started. Teams have traveled from all corners of the globe to experience this year’s tournament. One team that has traveled a long way, a full 12 hours, to reach Gothenburg this week is Mt Kenya. They brought two teams in two different categories this year - Girls 13 and Boys 13.

The boys' team played both of their Tuesday's matches at Heden in central Gothenburg. Despite losing the first match, a group of excited boys were seen near pitch 20 just before their second match of the week. After the match, we met with an equally excited group ready for the week ahead.

What are you most excited for this week?

"Some good food, the opening ceremony, and winning the handball matches", says Jaden Irungo from the team.

Something they are particularly looking forward to this week is all the activities surrounding the handball:

"We are going to be touring this week, going to a shopping mall and Liseberg on Saturday", says Jaden Irungo and Aaron Kibaara, players in the team, in unison.

The boys will continue to play throughout the week, and you can follow them in Group 7 all week long.
