Handball for everyone was a big success during Partille Cup 2023
This year's edition of Handball for everyone, the tournament where handball teams consisting of players of different ages and with various disabilities face each other, became one of Partille Cup's major crowd-pleasers.
For both players and coaches, the tournament is the highlight of the year.
– We have been talking about this throughout the year; it means so much to the whole team to come here and play, says Lena Sylwan Sjöstrand, coach for Önnered.
During this year's Handball for everyone IK Sävehof, Önnereds HK, and HK Aranäs participated with their respective teams on Court One at Heden Arena. The team leaders were all in agreement about the tremendous significance the organizing of such an inclusive handball event carries.
Lena Sylwan Sjöstrand continues:
– We are a team of about 20 people who train once a week. The focus is on having fun. It is very encouraging to come and play on a stage like this, where everyone is included. It is incredibly valuable for the players. As a coach, it brings me immense joy, she says.
Joel Evenmyr, coach of the Aranäs team, agrees.
– We could already see at the gathering today how excited the players were. There were only happy faces, even if some were nervous about playing in front of a full crowd. We try to have as much fun as possible throughout the day and embrace all the joy and positivity that Handball for everyone offers.
It was truly a day of joy at Heden Arena. Sävehof leader Camilla Andersson also agrees that the tournament serves an important purpose.
– It gives the players a sense of belonging. They get to come here and play together as a team, just like everyone else, and in front of a large and engaged audience. It's pure joy; the players think this is the best thing ever, she says.
