Handball Gets Young People Moving: "It's Important"

The girls from Lödde Vikings HK has a great passion for handball

An important part of Celebrate the People is movement and counteracting the negative trend regarding physical activity among youth.
- It's important to stay active, and handball is a great way to get moving, says Annie Holstein Jönsson, player for Lödde Viking HK's G16 team.

Many studies show that young people are not moving enough. At the same time, studies indicate that youth who participate in organized sports are more physically active overall, spend less time sitting, and use their phones less compared to those who are not involved in clubs.
- You don't have to pursue handball seriously to play it; you can just enjoy it as a fun way to stay active, says Caisa Salminen, a player for Lödde Vikings HK.

The girls at Lödde Vikings have had a long-standing interest in handball, and the sport means a lot to them.
- Handball means a lot to me. I started playing when I was seven, and I've been hooked ever since. I dedicate a lot of time to handball, says Caisa Salminen.

Her teammate Annie Holstein Jönsson adds:
- Plus, you get to spend time with friends through the sport and tournaments like this, she says.

They are looking forward to the last days of the Partille World Cup and have clear sports goals.
- We aim to win matches. Our goal is to reach the A-finals, says Annie Holstein Jönsson.
