Herkules from São Paulo returns to Partille World Cup with confidence and an unbeaten streak — now all eyes are on the playoffs.

Since 1976, the Brazilian team Herkules from São Paulo has participated in Partille World Cup – and in 2022, they made history as the first Brazilian team to win the tournament. This year, the team is back in Gothenburg, full of energy, pride, and new goals.

Herkules represents a public school in São Paulo and has over the years established itself as a strong contender in the tournament. In this year’s edition, the team has gone undefeated through the group stage and is now preparing for the upcoming playoff matches.
-I’m very excited to play the playoffs now. I think we’re gonna do well, says Pedro Alencar, one of the team’s players.

It’s not Alencar’s first time in Gothenburg, and he carries many fond memories from previous years. This year, he’s also joined by his mother – a proud and present supporter watching the matches from the stands. Returning to Partille World Cup is not only about competition — it’s also an opportunity for personal and athletic growth.
- The tournament is an incredible chance to learn more, he says.

The differences between Brazil and Sweden, both on and off the court, are something he reflects on. In Brazil, handball is still a relatively small sport, which makes the experience in Sweden even more special.
-Handball isn’t as big back home, and I missed that when I was here last time, Alencar shares.
