IK Sävehof strongest in the oldest boys category
IK Sävehof defeated Lugi HF 1 with 17-13 in the B21 final at Fristad Arena 1.
The B21 final with an even and tight history, but in the end IK Sävehof was a bit sharper than the compatriots in Lugi HF 1.
– We will celebrate the win in a slightly different way, says the champion Erik Follin.
Lugi HF 1 started best and took an early 4-1 lead, but IK Sävehof ate up the lead and equalized. Then the teams changed goals with each other. After a tough and even first half, the team from Skåne led by one ball; 8-7. The teams kept pace until 11-11 in the second half. Then IK Sävehof took a two-goal lead. In the final minutes, they also managed to extend their lead to four goals. The host club won the title in the oldest boys class after a solid performance against Lugi HF 1 in the final. Above all, they played a strong second half.
Number nine in IK Sävehof, Erik Follin, was awarded the prize as the match's MVP.
– It feels good to be MVP. The playoff matches are the toughest matches, I would say, says Erik Follin, who scored two important goals, one at the end.
He thinks that the final was initially a bit like a rollercoaster.
– It was shaky in the beginning. We didn't quite find our game level, but in the second half I think we stepped up and got it going and played better both offensively and defensively, says the 19-year-old.
Now awaits an evening worth remembering.
– We will celebrate the win in slightly different ways. Among other things, there will be a joint dinner with the team, says Erik Follin.
It is his first title in the tournament.
– Some of the guys have won before, but for me it's the first win, he says.
Partille World Cup is a tradition for him and his club mates.
– It's always fun to play Partille World Cup. It has been nice and good weather lately.
What are your future goals?
– The goal is to get as far as possible. Now it will soon be league matches, says the new Partille World Cup winner.
