Mashrihno is back thanks to Partille World Cup Foundation
Mashrihno Sports Academy from Zimbabwe is taking part in this year’s Partille World Cup. With support from the tournament’s foundation, the team gets the chance to travel, stay, and play handball. – It’s very exciting to be in Sweden. It’s not like home, but everyone is nice. I like it, says Lavender Zoe Munro.

Mashrihno Sports Academy has been a popular and regular part of the Partille World Cup since 2012, and this year they are back again. There is a lot of excitement and nearly full sidelines at Kviberg 17 as they play against Icelandic team FH. After the match, many people want to take photos and talk with the team.
– It’s very exciting to be back in Sweden. It’s not like home, but everyone is kind. I like it here, says Lavender Zoe Munro.
Mashrihno Sports Academy is one of several selected Foundation teams. Together with teams from Poland, Australia, and Peru, they receive part of the about two million kronor that Partille World Cup gives as support. Thanks to this support, the team can travel to Gothenburg, stay, eat, and take part – something that would otherwise not be possible.
– It’s so bright here, even late at night. In Zimbabwe, it gets completely dark and quiet, but here it feels like the day never ends. But it’s cosy here, says Lavender Zoe Munro.
Teammate Gelleth Dera has noticed some differences between the countries. He thinks Swedish food is okay, but laughs and says it’s not like at home.
– The food is not like home, but I liked the minced meat, he says.
