Spain champions of EOC: ”A dream to be here”
Spain defeated France in the final of the prestigious national team tournament European Open Championship in front of 3 350 spectators in Scandinavium.
Spain’s playmaker Quim Rocas was man of the match in the final and was also selected as the MVP of the tournament.
– It’s a dream to be here and to win this tournament, says Quim Rocas.
Quim Rocas and his teammates started the game really well. They got an early lead and led with three goals at halftime. Spain made a performance of high quality and won the great final with eight goals after an amazing second half. They scored 29 goals in total and only conceded 21. France was good as well but Spain was one number bigger this evening. After the final, Spain celebrated with their countrymen and fans in the stands. You could see the happiness in the eyes of the players.
– I’m really, really happy. We were not that good in the first games of the tournament but we got better and better and now we’re standing here as champions. We had a good game. It’s a dream to be here and to win this tournament, says Quim Rocas, who scored four goals in the final and also made several assists.
How will you celebrate the victory?
– We will have a party after this and celebrate together, he says with a big smile.
