Summer Jobs for Youths at Partille World Cup
Through the Celebrate the People initiative, Partille World Cup offers young people the chance to work and develop during the summer as part of their volunteer program.
Celebrate the People is Partille World Cup’s initiative to prepare more young people for the future. The volunteer program is part of this concept and aims to give more young people the opportunity to work during the summer, especially in times of job shortages. Jorie Ismail from Gothenburg is one of this year’s volunteers at the tournament.
During this year’s Partille World Cup, around 1500 people from Gothenburg and nearby areas get meaningful summer jobs. What sets this tournament apart from other sports events is that young people also receive compensation for their volunteer roles. Having the chance to create a CV, gain work experience, and take on responsibility is valuable for young people.
Jorie Ismail, 18, from Gothenburg, is one of this year’s volunteers working at the information desk at Heden. She helps people with questions about the tournament, from matches to finding locations. It’s her first time at the tournament and one of her first jobs.
“It helps a lot with social connections; my perspective on things improves when I talk to people like this,” she says with a big smile.
For Jorie Ismail and all the other volunteers at the tournament, this is a very valuable experience they can carry with them for the rest of their lives. Many of the young people working here are at the beginning of their careers, looking for a place where they can take on responsibility and see results.
Jorie is certain she will return next year to work and expresses her joy about being here:
“I think it’s so much fun to be here and work, I love it! I’ll be back next year,” she says with a giggle.
Partille World Cup is proud to contribute to more young people in the Gothenburg area getting summer jobs and a pathway into working life.
