The Referee School gives young referees the chance to to develop

The Partille World Cup Referee School aims to attract more young referees, primarily from Gothenburg and Sweden. Referees aged 15–20 receive guidance, coaching, and personal feedback from experienced instructors and referees.

The Referee School is part of the Partille World Cup’s commitment to youth and the future generation of handball referees. During the tournament week, around 80 young referees aged 15–20 get the chance to develop in a professional and supportive environment.

Each referee pair is followed by instructors with experience at national, elite, or international level. They provide ongoing coaching and personal feedback to the pairs. The goal is to strengthen both the confidence and competence of the young referees, so they can confidently take on the role of match officials.

- For many of them, this is the biggest tournament they’ve officiated so far. It comes with a lot of responsibility, but it’s also a fantastic opportunity for growth, says Eldin Bitic, Coordinator of the Referee School together with Casper Axell.

The initiative is part of making the referee role more attractive to young people. Something that ultimately benefits everyone. With more well-prepared and confident referees, the overall quality of the matches improves.
