The Swedish team against Poland

The Swedish national team played against Poland in the EOC this Monday

The European Open Championship kicked off on Monday. For the first time, the Swedish girls are wearing the coveted national team jersey. A victory was also just around the corner for the excited girls.

This year, it's the girls' under-16 teams from across Europe competing with their youth national teams. The Swedish national team began their EOC journey on Monday with a match against Poland. The game ended in a 23-18 victory for the Swedish girls.

It's surprising to know that the Swedish girls met for the first time on Friday and had only three days to prepare for the tournament. For many of the players, this is a significant experience, and Isabella Herlitz from Skuru IK proudly shares her pride in the team's performance:

"Considering how little time we had to prepare together, I think we did very well," she says.

Isabella is one of the newly appointed national team players for Sweden at the EOC. She usually plays for Nacka team Skuru IK and is now very excited about the opportunity to play for the Swedish national team.

"It feels like a dream come true to represent your country. It's not just me, but the whole team is so thrilled about it, and that's why we played so well today," Herlitz responds when asked about the best part of wearing the blue and yellow jersey.

The Swedish youth national team continues to compete for the trophy this week, with the next match taking place at 19:30 today, Monday, at Valhalla against Turkey.
